Routed

A new Oslo-based initiative offering 8-week, skills-building courses that connect internationals and locals to the city and each other.

Whether you're new to Oslo or a long-time resident, Re-Routed provides valuable opportunities to develop new skills, build your community, and explore the city.

By joining the club, you can:

Gain valuable experience

Whether you're volunteering as a mentor or joining as a student, you'll develop practical skills that can enhance your personal and professional growth. Participate in hands-on learning experiences that build your confidence, competence, and your CV.

Explore Oslo in a new way

Immerse yourself in the city's rich culture and history as you participate in activities that take learning beyond the classroom. Both mentors and students will have the opportunity to engage with Oslo’s neighborhoods, discover hidden gems, and connect with the local community in meaningful ways.

Expand your network

Build lasting connections with internationals and locals who share your interests and goals. As a mentor or student, you’ll collaborate with other professionals and peers that can support and inspire your journey in Oslo, both during and after the semester.

Meet the team

Re-Routed is a volunteer-run initiative that relies on the enthusiasm and expertise of the community. Behind the scenes are two passionate and motivated Oslo-based internationals:

Tumi Sineke is a facilitator and program manager focused on inclusion and belonging. She advises businesses and coaches underrepresented founders across South Africa and Europe. Since moving to Norway in 2022, Tumi has worked on immigrant entrepreneurship training and social impact with organizations like Startup Migrants and Impact StartUp. Her work empowers immigrants and underrepresented groups to create meaningful change.

Gabriella Mikiewicz is a social impact and communications professional with a background in migration studies and intercultural relations. She has lived and worked in nine countries, and is currently based in Oslo. She is the creator of Unlock Norway, a thriving community for internationals, and hosts Visit Norway's YouTube show, How to Norway.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

How much do your courses cost?

Re-Routed is a self-funded initiative. We want to keep the pricing accessible while providing the best possible experience. To do so, we are asking a semester fee of 500kr, which can be paid by Vipps before classes start to support the cost of running the program. If this amount is unaffordable for you, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Who can join Re-Routed?

Our courses are primarily designed for internationals living in Oslo who want to develop new skills and connect with the city. We welcome internationals and locals alike to volunteer as course facilitators.

What is the time commitment?

Each course runs for 8 weeks, with sessions held every Wednesday evening from 17:30-20:30. Students are expected to attend all classes, but you must attend at least 5 sessions and complete a final project to receive a certificate.

Volunteer mentors are required to attend a facilitation/pedagogy training in advance and commit to teaching at least 2 of the 8 weeks.

Full participation is encouraged to make the most of this experience for everyone!
